Introduction:
The Era of Knights Divine has ended. Chaos has spread throughout, leaving scattered Kingdoms, all striving for power. Kingdoms Divided is an MMO game where the objective is to get the best rank possible. Rank is determined by 4 categories: Infantry, Security, Intelligence, and Farming. Each of these will be covered in depth below.
The first thing you need to do is register to play. To do this click the register button and follow the instructions, giving all the information the form asks for. Once you have registered and logged in you'll come to your home screen. You see some things there, like your name, email, and cubbles.
Cubbles are the unit of currency in Kingdoms Divided. Anything with a cost number (e.g. Cost: 2,500) is in Cubbles. In order to gain rank you are going to have increase your 4 main statistics, which will require these cubbles. Cubbles can gained from your TBC (explained later), attacking other people or by stealing them.
Quick Start:
1. Register
-If you have already created an account, skip to step two (2).
-Otherwise, Go to the main page of Kingdoms Divided (www.KingdomsDivided.com)
-In the bottom right side of the page, there is a button to create an account. Click it.
-Fill in a user name and email. Your temporary password will be sent to this email. You will be able to change your password when you activate your account.
-Choose a specialty; each has a bonus. There is no "Best" specialty, you have to choose one for how you like to play. For example, if you enjoy attacking other players, you may want to choose the Warrior.
-Once you have read the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and rules (Please, read these. We hate banning accounts who did broke rules they did not know existed), enter the Captcha Code (letters in the image, to prevent automatic registration), then create your account.
-If you haven't received your password within a few minutes, check your Spam/Junk folder, then try the chatroom, or email Bruce at bruce@kingdomsdivided.com
2. Login
-Once you have created an account, go to the main page of Kingdoms Divided (www.KingdomsDivided.com)
-The login box is in the top-right of the page. Enter the user name and password that were emailed to you.
-In the new page that comes up, Re-enter the temporary password, then enter your new password.
-Re-login with your new password in the main page.
3. Playing
-Once you have logged in, it may seem a little overwhelming. There are a few things you should know now before starting:
-Your rank is based on four (4) actions:
--Infantry (Attacking)
--Security (Defending)
--Intelligence (Spying and Stealing)
--Farming (Income)
Infantry, Security, and Intelligence actions can be increased by buying weapons in the Armory tab. For every weapon you have, you must have a soldier, guard, or spy to hold the weapon (soldier for Infantry weapon, etc).
You may also upgrade those actions via the Training tab.
Farming action is increased in the Farming tab. Your income each turn is based off of the number of followers, soldiers, guards, and farmers you have, as well as the amount of Land, Farms, and Mills, and your Farming Level.
Remember that each farm needs at least 5 farmers to maintain it, and each mill needs one farm to be built on.
Your food, also based on land, farms, and mills, is vital to your army's survival. If each unit does not receive enough food each turn, they will start to die off. Be careful to keep enough food production and supply to last the nights you cannot be online.
Support Link:
Your Support link can be found at the bottom of your Headquarters. It can be clicked once per hour per person. To "click" the link, the supporter must press the button of the letter repeated in the image found in the center of that page. If your income is under 10,000, you receive the flat rate of 1,000 cubbles and 5 followers. Otherwise, you receive 10% of your income and 10% of your unit production. Please note your income for the support link does not include master/apprentice bonuses. You are allowed to click your own link. You may have your friends click your link. You are not allowed to post your link on the Kingdoms Divided forums, or in the Kingdoms Divided Chatroom.
Attacking:
You can attack other players. In order to win the battle, your infantry must be higher than their security. If you win, you will steal most of their cubbles, and you have a chance to steal some of their land, farms, and mills, taking the farmers with you. A full attack uses 20 resources. The more resources you use, the more you can steal. Resources do not affect the amount of damage you deal, only the amount you can steal. When you actually attack your damage dealt will never be 100% of your Infantry statistic, but it will be around 80% of it. It actually varies slightly, in a random fashion, so you can only guarantee victory if you have much higher infantry statistic then your enemy has in their security statistic. You may only attack another player three times in a 12-hour period.
Defending:
Unlike attacking, you cannot choose when you defend. Anyone can attack you at any time so you should bear this in mind. In order to win in a defensive battle your security statistic most be higher than their infantry. If you lose they will steal most of your cubbles, some of your land and maybe some of your farms, mills and farmers.
Reconning:
You can recon people to see some of their statistics. To do this, you go to a player's attack page and fill in the numbers and hit recon. However you will fail if your intelligence is less then that of your enemy. You will get no statistics, and you will lose your spy and the tool it used. Your most recent successful recon information will be shown on future views of that player's attack page.
Stealing:
You can also steal from other players. The amount and the success rate of your stealing depends on your intelligence among other factors. You can steal cubbles, food, and weapons. You may no longer choose the amount you steal, it is determined by the tool you use to steal, your rank vs. their rank, and other factors. When stealing, you may use anywhere from 1-20 resources. The more you use, the more of the target item you will steal.
When stealing, you must often send more than one spy.
Each spy only has the ability to carry a certain value of the plunder back with him. This is calculated as One half of your Turn Based Cubbles for every Intelligence level you possess.
For example, if your Turn Based Cubbles is §10,000 and you currently have Intelligence Level #6, Each spy would be able to hold §10,000 * 6 / 2 = §30,000.
If you send 3 spies, you would be able to steal a maximum value of §90,000. This only applies if the amount you would have stolen is greater than the amount your spies can carry.
The "Value" of an item is simply the price you would buy a weapon for (For example, one Knight is worth §900,000). Cubbles are each §1, and Food is worth §10 each.
Statistics:
In Kingdoms Divided, statistics play a very large part of the game. They determine your main rank and they determine whether your will win or lose in a battle, for example. There are four main statistics, visible on the top right of every page. The four main statistics are Infantry, Security, Intelligence and Farming. There are other less important statistics which either are a result of these or are used to calculate these.
Infantry:
Your infantry is the amount of potential damage you can do when attacking an enemy. To increase this, buy infantry weapons from the first group of weapons in the armory. Then make sure you have enough soldiers to hold these weapons on the training page. You can also purchase upgrades for infantry in the upgrade section. When you attack somebody, your actual damage will be slightly less than your infantry. Therefore, you should make sure you will beat the enemy by a decent amount. If your occupation is a Warrior, you get a 20% bonus in this field.
Security:
Your security is the amount of potential damage you can do when defending against an enemy. To increase this, buy security weapons from the second group of weapons in the armory. Then make sure you have enough guards to hold these weapons on the training page. You can also purchase upgrades for security in the upgrade section. When you are attacked, your actual damage will be slightly less than your security. If your occupation is a Watchman, you get a 20% bonus in this field.
Intelligence:
Your intelligence increases the probability that you will succeed in steal missions. It also increases the probability of an enemy failing in a steal mission against you. To increase this, buy intelligence tools in the armory. Then make sure you have enough spies to hold these weapons on the training page. You can also purchase upgrades for intelligence in the upgrade section. You can steal cubbles and weapons on a steal mission. If your occupation is a Thief, you get a 20% bonus in this field. Intelligence is both spy attack and defense.
Farming:
Your farming stat is solely for rank, however the farming "items" are used to calculate your TBC (Turn Based Cubbles) and also your food per turn. You need 1 plot of land to purchase a farm. Each farm requires 5 farmers to work there. You also have the option of adding a mill to the farm. You can purchase one mill for each farm you have. When you buy a number of mills/farms at a time, the price is recursive, or goes up for each one. The base price shown in farming applies only to the first farm/mill bought. For example, if the price shown was 1000 cubbles, and you bought 5, It wouldn't just be 5000, it would be about 1000 more (as the price for farms/mills goes up for each one purchased). There is no limit to the number you can buy at once. If your occupation is a Farmer, you get a 20% bonus in this field.
Note: There is also a Warlord occupation. This occupation has a 5% bonus in all of the above fields, instead of 20% in just one.
Food:
Each turn, you need one unit of food for every person you have in your army (including spies and farmers). If you do not, each person that doesn't get food will die off. Death logs are kept for every unit you lose to starvation. You can find this in the "Logs" tab. Food per turn is calculated using your Farm level, Farms, Farmers, and Land. You may also buy or sell food and view projected losses in Farming. Note: To prevent "sell offs", there is now a limit on the amount of food that can be purchased.
Turns:
Each turn, you receive your Turn Based Cubbles (See TBC below), 1 resource, your land production, and followers (See your Headquarters for your Unit Production). Turns occur every 15 minutes and you can see the time to the next turn on the top left.
Resources:
Resources are used to do many things in Kingdoms Divided. You need resources to attack, to spy, and to steal. You should be wary of wasting turns, for example attacking people you cannot beat and spying when you cannot succeed; as resources are not indispensable.
Turn Based Cubbles (TBC):
This is the BASE amount of cubbles you get per turn. To increase your TBC, purchase farms and mills, and train farmers. You are given your TBC every 15 minutes at the turn. You also get one follower per Mill you have. Your BASE TBC is calculated using the following values:
Vault:
When you sell items (weapons, food, etc), the assets go into your vault, where they cannot be stolen by other players. When you buy items, money is taken out of your vault first, then from your available cubbles.
Bonuses:
There are three types of bonuses available in Kingdoms Divided.
Heroes:
You may temporarily increase certain actions by 15% by hiring heroes. You buy a certain amount of HP for you heroes. Depending on how difficult the battle is and how many resources you use, your hero can lose up to 10 HP. Once a hero loses his or her HP, he or she disappears and you must buy a new hero. You may recharge your hero while it is still alive. All hero buying and recharging is done on the Hero page, which you may access via the top menu.
Premium Accounts:
Premium accounts are for those who have donated to Kingdoms Divided. For a list of features a premium account has, click here. Features are aimed at making game play more enjoyable, not helping player game-wise (This is so players who are unable to donate can still win, but donations are still encouraged). Please note getting a premium account is not "buying features", it is a small reward for those who support Kingdoms Divided's monthly server fees.
Apprentice Approval:
You may set the option in your Head Quarters to require approval of all new apprentices. When someone attempts to make you their master, you will receive a message letting you know they are awaiting approval. That player keeps his/her current master until approved by you. If denied, it does not cost any Master Changes, and that player keeps his/her current master. If approved, you become the player's master. This will prevent unwanted apprentices leeching off of your master bonus. If you have more than the limit of apprentices, any future apprentices will go on your approval list. They will be unapprovable until you release a current apprentice.
Kingdoms:
A Kingdom is a group of players allied together.
You may create your own Kingdom or join someone else's.
There are three types of Kingdoms:
Point System:
Implemented in Era 2 Round 2, this point system is directed at helping players active in the Kingdoms Divided Community. Points may be earned in the IRC Chatroom and may be redeemed for the prizes below. In order to keep rewards equally helpful throughout a round, the amount of the item you receive is dynamic:
Points: IRC Bonus:
Kingdoms Divided is now linked with the IRC chatroom! If you submit your IRC nickname at the "View/Redeem Points" link, you can receive points (see above) for your activity in the chatroom. Every 200 lines earns you 1 point. If you are on the channel, you receive another point for every random check (every 2-8 hours). Spamming will not be tolerated and may result in the removal of all your points. As a reward for new users, the first 200 lines earns 50 points!
Frequently Asked Questions:
What do you do in the game?
That's what this guide will tell you! Basically, you buy/sell weapons, train soldiers, build your own empire, command others, attack, spy on, and steal from enemies. Like other turn based games, you acquire wealth, food, followers, and resources every fifteen (15) minutes [Whether or not you're online]. Still not sure whether to play? Try it! What do you have to lose?
What is a cubble?
The cubble is a currency in Kingdoms Divided. America has the Dollar. Europe has the Euro. Japan has the Yen. Kingdoms Divided has the Cubble.
How do I play?
Try reading the introduction section above. If you still don't understand, click "Chat" at the top of the page to speak to other players.
What is the point of the game?
While the main goal of the game is to "win", many players have personal goals such as top rank in one Stat, or to have a higher rank than a friend.
How do I make my rank better?
Your overall rank is based on the ranks of your 4 actions (Infantry, Security, Intelligence, and Farming). To increase your Infantry, Security, and Intelligence, buy weapons in your Armory. To increase Farming, buy more farms, mills, and farmers. You may also upgrade levels at the bottom of the Training page.
How do I make more money?
You receive Turn Based Cubbles (TBC) every 15 minutes, whether or not you're online. Your TBC is based off of many things, which you may view here. You may also Attack or Steal from other players.
How do I get more resources?
Every 15 minutes, along with your TBC, you receive 1 resource. Since you only get 96 resources per day, use them wisely. Alternatively, you can use points to purchase more resources.
How do I get more followers (army size)?
You get your unit production (based on the number of mills, and your UP bonus) every 15 minutes. You may also have others click your Support Link for a follower and cubble bonus.
I have a sibling that plays, can I play too?
Yes, contact Bruce or Jack via PM and inform them of all accounts that will be sharing an IP. They will advise you of the necessary measures to ensure everyone is playing fair.
What is a Round/Era?
In order to level the playing field every so often for new players Kingdoms Divided incorporates Rounds and Eras. Rounds generally last around 2 to 3 months, Eras are 3 Rounds long. New Rounds will have small changes and additions, and new Eras usually contain a large change or feature.
What happens at the end of a Round?
Rounds end at an exact time, which will be displayed in a timer at the top of the page a few days prior to the end. Rounds last around 3 to 4 months. Please do not ask when the current round ends (You can find how long the round has gone on in the Statistics page).
When the Rounds end, the site will temporarily go off line. You will be able to see the message that the game is resetting, and to access the chat room and forums. All accounts are reset (To re-level the playing field), final stats are compiled, and new features are implemented. This process may take up to 30 minutes, then the new round will start. All of your apprentices go into Pending mode, when they reactivate you must approve them (This is to enforce the 10 Apprentice Limit).
Is this game fun?
Many people find text-based games enjoyable. Kingdoms Divided is packed with innovative features to allow players to get the most out of their game play.
How much does it play to cost?
Playing is free! However, to support server costs, you may upgrade to a premium account (which will give you features to make gameplay more exciting, but should not affect overall rank very much) for only $5 per round, or $10 per era.
This should give you a good idea of what to expect in this game. This will be updated as more features are added to the game.
